Increment

Made some incremental changes over the last couple of days. We have a new PM who I work with on our order APIs and there’s been some discussion we’ve had about making the system not just robust, but accountable and actionable. While we’ve had a bunch of chaps who focus enough on the former part, the latter I’m glad there’s at least one soul that does think of.

This time around though, unlike the previous two iterations in the last year, didn’t give up and spent some time post the time off at Boss’ place on Friday. Not bad I should say, on two counts.

First off, gave up on my general inhibition about expressing myself; did a wee bit of Karaoke-ing to a fabulous, favourite number from the times gone by. And equally important, once I got home, wrote a neat wrapper to call the external APIs that we provide to our clients and plug it into a uptime status page.

An oblique thought that came by while drafting this one was to perhaps expose this entire functionality as an SDK separated out on business logic lines. For starters, this would enable my long standing idea of making our storefront a client to better track metrics and above all, have a smaller delta for our clients to integrate.

The road ahead I am not well aware of, given a plethora of factors and whatever else has been brewing, but always a good break to build things, so to speak.
