After ages together, an update here. Not that there has not been enough to write about, but there has not been enough discipline to. Painful as it is, here goes. The last few months have been rather on and off with trying to reining in the way work gets done, not to mention the way planning happens.
In a perhaps inane manner, started rewriting some parts of the stack after a major concern during Deepavali. Long story short, the crud of neglected codebase does come back hard with a strong stench; the stinker an orphan everywhere.
Spent some time a few days back in extension while looking at a specific case of an Express based API. The exception handling and bubbling of promises does remain an mess still; stacks with low-hanging fruits do come with trade-offs that much. Made a quirky solution to the problem but this does remain to be tested; my hunch around event listener limits coming to the fore just after I pushed the change to a test branch.
If there is something that I’d from all years of sensible experience would vote for, it is that going slow is still a fine thing; the find anyone/anything to solve this quick, a long term pain. Goes without saying, not if the focus is throwing the child, bathwater, and the rest to an orphanage for another to adopt.
